Obituary for Donna S. Jarecki (Silvius)

Donna S. Jarecki (Silvius)
Donna S. Jarecki
1937-2017

Donna S. Jarecki went home to be with the Lord, October 27, 2017. Donna was born in Turney, Missouri, to Myron Gale Silvius and Nina (nee Hutton) Silvius on July 16, 1937. Donna attended Cameron schools, but graduated from Blue Springs High School where she and her family moved after her junior year of high school.
After earning a business degree at University of Central Missouri, Donna moved to Denver, Colorado, in 1958 where she worked as a bank auditor. It was also in Colorado where Donna made lifelong friends, and learned to play bridge. In 1976, Donna, her husband Dominic, and children, Dominic (Nic) and Dana returned to the Cameron area. After years of teaching as a substitute teacher in the Cameron public school system, she returned to school to earn a teaching degree from Missouri Western State College. She then worked for a few years as a teacher at Mirable.
In 1993, Donna began working for Gumdrop Books as a sales representative in North and South Dakota. She worked for Gumdrop for 14 years and many years was recognized as a top salesperson. After retiring from Gumdrop, Donna worked seasonally at Cameron Accounting & Financial for seven years, volunteered Thursday evenings at the Cameron Nutrition Center, and served on the Center’s board. Donna was an active member of the First Christian Church of Cameron and enjoyed rich friendships there as well as with members of her bridge and pitch party clubs.
Donna is survived by her siblings Myron Silvius and Nita Moore; her children Dominic (Angela) and Dana (David King); and her seven grandchildren Dominic, Kaitlyn, Carolyn, Nathan, Lillabeth, Madeleine and Macayla.
Memorial Service: 1:30 PM, Saturday November 4, 2017 at the First Christian Church, Cameron. In Lieu of Flowers, donations to the Cameron Ministerial Alliance P.O. Box 215, Cameron, MO 64429. Online condolences: www.polandthompson.com.
