Obituary for Agnes Mann (Torticill)

Agnes Mann
1927-2017

Mrs. Agnes (Torticill) Mann, dearly beloved sister, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, age 90, passed away peacefully at her residence in Blue Springs, Missouri on Thursday morning, December 7th, 2017. Agnes was the daughter of Leo and Marie Torticill of Anthon, Iowa, and was born on September 18, 1927. She was from an extraordinary Irish-Catholic family of nine children and married Duane “Pete” Mann of Onawa with whom she had nine children of her own. Agnes attended Creighton University where she graduated with a nursing degree in 1946 and was a dedicated, caring, registered nurse for over 40 years. She has lived in the Kansas City and Parkville areas since 1966 where she raised her family and practiced and shared her cherished Catholic faith. Agnes gave the priceless gifts of joy, prayer, and service to all she touched throughout her beautiful life.
Agnes is preceded in death by her “Mama and Papa” Leo and Marie Torticill; her brothers Bill Torticill, Leo “Corky” Torticill and wife Helene; her sisters Betty Marley and husband Jim, Theresa Poulsom and husband Ed, and Mary Hosford and husband Ray, brother-in-law Vinton Nutt, and many beloved nieces and nephews. Agnes suffered the very hard loss of her beloved daughter, Delores “Lorie” Burr, her grandson, Jacob Mann, and her great-grandson, Braden May.
She is survived by three siblings: Delores Nutt, Phil Torticill (Anne), and Gary Torticill (Marcie), also by sister-in-law Rosalie Torticill, and many nieces and nephews. Agnes is loved and will be missed by eight children and their families: Kathy and Richard Palmer, Duane and Terri Mann, Don and Monica Mann, Mike and Connie Mann, David and Kelly Mann, Regina and Dale Harden, Peggy and Jim Burr, and Kelly Derringer. In addition, she is survived by thirty grandchildren and more than fifty great-grandchildren who dearly loved their sweet Grandma who showered them in return with love and hugs and chocolate.
Agnes will be honored at a rosary and visitation Monday, December 11th. from 10:00 till 11:00 a.m., at St. Munchin Catholic Church, located at 301 N. CedarStreet, Cameron, Missouri. This will be followed by a funeral mass at St. Munchin and then conclusive services to be held at Osborn Evergreen Cemetery in Osborn, Missouri. Afterward a luncheon will be provided at St. Munchin church hall. The family would like to ask for donations to St. Mary’s Manor where the loving and gentle staff, CNAs, and nurses were angels on earth to Agnes in her final years. St. Mary’s Manor: 111 Mock Avenue, Blue Springs, Missouri, 64014.
Arrangements: Poland-Thompson Funeral Home, Cameron, MO. Online condolences: www.polandthompson.com.
